Re: Downlloading tech question |
Mac or PC? I only know PC..Get the trial version of ULEAD Version 8 from Ulead.com. Install (good for 30 days) Right click the folder in the upper right corner of the screen, open the film, drag and drop it to the uppermost stripe then go to "share" and click on "DVD" then save as and name the file with the letters DVD so it will convert it. Close the program when it's finished and go into Nero 6 (or other DVD burning software) for Nero click DVD - Make DVD Video - Open the file- go through several menus and click burn after you have put a blank DVD in the computer. After about 20 to 45 minutes it should be completed.
I think that ULead and the latest version of Nero Express have both streamlined the process dramatically. Another note, make sure the blank DVD is the correct speed for the burner and (only experimenting can get this part right) make sure that you don't burn too quickly or you might get a "coaster"!! Sometimes if you burn too slowly you can get an error, too. I have an AMD 2100 XP and an 8 speed burner, I use 8x disks, but get less errors when I burn them at 6x instead of racing it at max 8x. Depends on a number of factors, but don't get discouraged if your first few don't turn out. Be prepared to waste a few blanks to find the right recipe. When you download the film, make sure to get the MPEG-2 Version which has much better quality. Often the MPEG-2s aren't quite ready for DVD, they have to have their frames sized to an exact spec, I think 720 x 480 pixels is one of the acceptable formats. This is why you need to use ULead Studio. I think a lot of people have had problems trying to burn the MPEG-2's direcly to DVD without converting them. It won't work without having them made "DVD-ready". Typically the MPEG-2 could be 500M but when converted becomes maybe 1.5G. Good Luck and ask more questions if there are problems!
